Vouliagmeni is where people go when Glyfada feels too loud and a hotel at Astir feels too public. The suburb is low, green and residential. The landmarks are the thermal lake and the headland of Astir Beach. The houses we take are the ones with a garden or a pool, not an apartment over a junction.
Lake, beach and the hotel
Lake Vouliagmeni is a swimmable thermal lake, warm enough for a morning outside summer. It is a reason to stay in this postcode even if you never sit on a sunbed. Astir Beach, on the peninsula, is the polished version of the same coast, run with the Four Seasons Astir Palace. A villa does not include the beach. If you are choosing between the hotel and a house, the comparison is in villa or hotel.
Kavouri is the seafront neighbourhood of the same municipality. Stay there if you want to walk to a small beach. Stay in the pine streets of Vouliagmeni if you want the lake and a quieter night.
Who it suits
Couples and families who will spend the day between a pool and one good taverna. It is a poor fit if you want to walk a shopping street after dinner. Glyfada is fifteen minutes away when you do. The airport is a little further than from Glyfada, still a straightforward transfer, usually under forty minutes.
Pools and privacy
Most of the villas here are chosen for a private pool and a garden that is not overlooked. Addresses are withheld until booking. The public page names Vouliagmeni, and Kavouri when that is the truth, so the page can rank for the place without publishing the gate code.
