Villas with a private pool on the Athens Riviera
A private pool is the reason most guests choose a villa over a hotel room on this coast. The beach clubs are excellent, and they are also shared. A pool in the garden means breakfast outside, a swim before the airport transfer, and an afternoon that does not depend on sunbed reservations at Astir or Asteras.
Where the pool villas are
Glyfada and Voula have family houses with heated pools a few minutes from the organised beaches. Vouliagmeni and Kavouri are quieter: pine streets, the lake, and houses that face the water. Lagonisi, further south, is where the larger pool gardens usually sit, which is why it suits longer summer stays and gatherings.
Most of the collection is about 25 minutes from Athens International Airport when the Attiki Odos is clear, and within half an hour of the city centre outside rush hour.
What to ask before you book
Ask whether the pool is heated, and in which months. A "private pool" in July is a different promise from a heated pool in November. Ask about depth if you are travelling with small children, and about the sun: some Kavouri gardens are shaded by pines by mid-afternoon, which is a pleasure in August and a limitation in April.
The nightly rate usually includes the villa, not a chef or a boat. Those are arranged separately. Cleaning, service and the climate-crisis levy should be on the proposal before you pay a deposit. The exact address is shared after booking.
FAQ
Do the villas have heated pools?
Some do, mostly in Glyfada, Voula and the larger Lagonisi houses. The listing names a heated pool when the owner provides one. If the dates are outside July and August, ask us to confirm the heating before you hold the dates.
Are these the same as beachfront villas?
No. A pool villa can be on a quiet street five minutes from the sand. Beachfront houses are on the beachfront villas page. Many guests book a pool villa in Voula or Glyfada and walk or drive to the beach.
Is a pool villa a good alternative to the Four Seasons Astir Palace?
For a family or a group, usually yes. You give up the hotel beach and gain a kitchen, a pool that is only yours, and room to spread out. Read the comparison in our villa or hotel guide.
